Just like our new Learn & Grow math game, Kirra’s “Add It Up” Garden, this printable gives your child the opportunity to practice counting, addition, and using ten frames. Plus, you’ll find a DIY flower crown on the last page!
What You’ll Need:
This PrintableDownload
- Scissors
- Glue or tape
Set-Up Time: Under 5 min
Activity Time: 20-30 min
Mess Level: Low
Play Tips:
- When using ten frames, you can encourage your child to explain their mathematical thinking with questions like, “How many flowers did you plant? “How many more to fill the plot to ten?” and “How do you know?”
- If your child struggles to explain their thinking, you can help them along the way: “Wow, I see you put four flowers. Four is less than ten. There are six holes open, so six and four make ten!”
- Bring ten frames to life with a little DIY! You can draw them on whiteboards, create laminated versions to use with dry erase markers, use painter’s tape to make one on the ground at home, or draw them on the sidewalk with chalk!
Skill Spotlight:
- Working with ten frames
- Number sense
- Counting
- Addition
